Light Oak Coal Depot or Purdonium

DescriptionCirca 1860. A mid Victorian honey oak coal box or purdonium. The square top with a stylish moulded edge, the sides a pair of cast brass lifting handles with lion heads with brass rings through the mouth, the front there is a cast brass ring handle with elegant back plate, opens to reveal a metal lined interior, which is removable.
